BIS research project priming grant for trainees
Each year, BIS invites applications to deliver this highly prestigious lecture at the Conference of the Federation of Infection Societies (FIS). Doctors and scientists who have not yet reached consultant, senior lecturer or top grade scientist status are eligible to compete. This award recognises excellence in original research. The selection will take account of the quality of the original research conducted in the career to date and the proposal for the lecture itself which should provide a scholarly overview of the chosen topic followed by the presentation of the applicants own original research. It is essential that applications show clear evidence of a substantial body of independent and high quality research. Applicants are encouraged to contact the scientific affairs secretary for further advice and discussion.
As well as presenting this BIS lecture, the award winner receives £150 and full sponsorship to attend the FIS Conference. See flyer for further information.
Eligibility
UK and Ireland-based based clinically-qualified trainees in infection or infection-related specialities who are not in a Consultant-level post. UK and Ireland-based non-clinical post-doctoral scientists within 4 years of PhD and not in a tenured academic or top grade scientist post.
Closing date 9th September 2009
Application process A two-sided summary of the proposed lecture plus a short curriculum vitae, listing all publications and other relevant scientific achievements by e-mail to the scientific affairs secretary scientific_affairs@britishinfectionsociety.org.
